StreetBuzz thrives on authenticity, community vigilance, and trust. While we empower users to share real events from their streets, we also have zero tolerance for abuse, misinformation, or harmful behaviour. There is a special process we follow to ensure the platform is safe and fair for everyone.

Our Moderation Approach

We use a hybrid model of:

Automated Moderation

AI-powered tools to flag spam, hate speech, or graphic content.

Human Moderation

Our moderation team reviews flagged posts and community reports.

Community Reporting

Users can report content, accounts, or comments directly in the app.

1. What Gets Moderated or Removed

  • False or Misleading Information: Especially regarding emergencies or crime.

  • Glorification of Criminal Acts: Including ‘post and boast’ footage in violation of Queensland laws.

  • Harassment or Bullying: Targeted abuse, intimidation, or threats.

  • Discrimination or Hate Speech: Content targeting someone based on race, religion, gender, etc.

  • Graphic or Violent Content: Especially without context or educational/public safety relevance.

  • Pornographic or Sexual Content: Strictly prohibited.

  • Scams or Spam: Commercial promotions, fake accounts, or misleading links.

  • Doxxing or Personal Attacks: Including addresses, private numbers, or license plates unless part of a legitimate crime alert (reviewed case by case).

  • Unverified Accusations: Users must clearly state whether something is alleged or witnessed.

2. User Accountability

  • ID Verification: Verified users are prioritised in feeds and gain trusted status. This discourages trolling and fake reporting (e.g., content or comments from anonymous users).

  • Strike System: Offenders may receive strikes, account suspensions, or permanent bans depending on severity.

  • Appeals Process: Users may appeal a takedown or suspension by contacting support.

3. Moderation Goals

  • Protect users while promoting free and open discussion of community matters.

  • Ensure relevant, real-time, and truthful information is shared.

  • Avoid unnecessary censorship while remaining compliant with Australian law.

  • Amplify positive stories and prevent harmful narrative spirals that increase fear or anxiety.

  • Ensure our content aligns with our values of Accountability, Reality and Truth.

4. Policy Updates

As laws and technologies change, so will our policies. We’ll always notify users of major updates via in-app announcements or email.
